Let's continue with Gaëlle Joubert, from Grenoble. Engineer in embeded software, who just Graduated from Esisar, she is with us to record under-water sounds, for Chorus Labs, Grenoble Institute of Technology.
With her hydrophone, she will try to capture the sounds of Icebergs cracklings.
When she is not on the water with her weird machine, this athlete, who is also a trampoline coach, is tumbling from one boulder to another with a catchy hapiness.
Master in the art of handling the stove, Gaëlle is also fond of highline, a webbing tight between two cliffs. At barely 22 years old, she knows how to reach the sky.
Behind her colorfull glasses and her big smile, she agrred to answer our questions. Briefly. Nice effort for such a talketive girl.
What is your favorite time in an expedition day ?
Diner time ! (laugh). Seriously, when I get outside my tent, and see these amazing moutains which surrounds us.
what did you come here for?
Adventure.
What is your best memory?
So far (nb: middle of the expédition), when we raft along a torrent on the glacier. Magical time between thousand blues and whites.
The worst ?
One of my first portages on the glacier. My bag was weithing more than 20kg, and we didn't knew yet the shortest way through the rocks and the ice. It took us 6h30 to hike 8km. It was really hard.
What did you learn since the begining?
A lot about myself, and my boundaries. We are always more ressourcefull than we think.
One word to describe portage?
A life lesson.
In wich way did Greenland surprise you?
With these huge rocky mountains, these high pics similar to what you can see in "Les écrins" (Nb:Area in the French Alps).
When you think of Greenland, you usualy expect flat ice as far as you can see.
what do you still dream of seeing?
My highline between two cliffs ! (laughs)
The book you brought ?
« Ravages » and « La Nuit des temps » from Barjavel.
your favorite Lyoph?
Between the savoury, "Pasta and cheese". But "shepherd pie" is the strategical choice, because it is bulkier. And between the sweet ones, "Crumble" is my first and only love.
