Experienced adventurer, all-round sportsman, expedition organizer, photographer and director of scientific and adventure films W ith a background in geology, passionate about nature and exploration, Evrard Wendenbaum is today organizer of expeditions, photographer and director of adventure and scientific movies, as well as a keen defender of nature.
This brought him to all kinds of extreme environments and he led many adventures in some of the farthest and harshest corners of the planet. His athletic abilities paired with a wide range of experiences also allowed him to follow the best athletes and adventurers in their projects.
In the last decade, he covered extreme climbs in the Himalayas, first ski descents of summits in Patagonia, independent crossings with ski and sled in Alaska, explorations of Malagasy primary forests and Saharan mountain ranges, discoveries of new caves in Indonesia, sea kayak trips, as well as canyons descents in islands of the Indian Ocean.
He was awarded the « Toison d'Or for the Adventurer of the Year » for his ascent of the world highest waterfall in Venezuela with his partners in 2006. His films also received many awards in the best international adventure and mountain film festivals : best mountain film, best adventure film, best director, etc.
Committed to nature preservation and public awareness of environmental issues, he founded Naturevolution in 2009.
He is the ambassador for the environment for the Petzl foundationIn 2009, he strongly committed himself to environmental protection and public awareness of environmental issues. He set up a conservation project in one of the most remote area of the world, the Makay massif in Madagascar, whose natural wonders are unfortunately going up in smoke. He founded Naturevolution, an environmental association, and in 2010 and 2011 headed some of the most important scientific missions on biodiversity inventory. These large-scale scientific expeditions a definite success, and with today a solid experience in communication (several films including the first 3D documentary with Canal , exhibitions, articles, books, websites, DVDs, conferences, etc.), Evrard Wendenbaum now launches the Lost Worlds project.
They will develop innovative means of transportation, filming, supplying energy, communication and research to achieve the smallest impact on the environment I n many years of adventures, Evrard Wendenbaum gathered around him some of the best specialists to organise expeditions and explore. Made of logisticians, R&D engineers, climbers, speleologists, white water sports experts, and even aircraft pilots and doctors, this team is able to set up large-scale expeditions in harsh conditions to any remote corner of the planet in a few weeks.
They will be in charge of the logistics and security of the Lost Worlds expedition series, as well as developing innovative means of transportation, filming and supplying energy. They will have to meet very strict requirements to make these expeditions a benchmark in terms of CO2 emissions reduction and environmental impact.
A n environmental NGO, Naturevolution acts for the preservation of biodiversity, the improvement of our knowledge of life, as well as individual and collective behavioural changes regarding our environmental impact. In order to carry out its mission, it works with prestigious and accomplished partners (such as Paris' Natural History Museum, the French Research Institute for Development, the American Museum of Natural History, California's academy of Sciences, etc.) to put together relevant teams and develop the most interesting research projects. Research institutes, in partnership with host countries and involved in the Lost Worlds project through their researchers, are the depositaries of collected biological and archaeological material. They are also guarantors of the continuity of research and the spread of knowledge towards the scientific community.
Naturevolution also joins forces with educational partners like the French Ministry of National Education, the Goodplanet Foundation, les Petits Débrouillards and many others, in order to bring the attention of both little ones and grown-ups to the necessity to protect nature and to respect the living world.
Specialists of films and multimedia contents in scientific exploration, travel, adventure and culture AFollowing the production of the 3D documentary « Madagascar, the lost Makay » about the first project of the Lost Worlds expedition series in the Makay, Gedeon Programmes will also produce the future episodes of the documentary series that will parallel the scientific expeditions. Gedeon Programmes is a French audiovisual group created in 1993 by Stéphane Millière. It produced not only many documentaries, docufictions and magazines in the fields of science, history, nature, the environment, exploration and culture, but also feature films and corporate movies. It was nominated a few years ago among the 100 world most influential production company (excl. fiction). Set up in 2007 by Philippe Lemarchand and Cyrille de la Motte Rouge, Zabriskie Prod produces and directs mainly institutional communication movies and multimedia content in the fields of scientific exploration, travel, sports adventures and culture. Part of the project since 2014, they skilfully manage the whole audiovisual communication (save for the documentaries) of the Lost Worlds project, and notably the institutional movies we propose our partners.
