North Sailing, a tall ship full of stories

Mission Scoresby is sailing onboard the Donna Wood from the Icelandic port of Husavik to the Scoresby Sund. The 100-year old tall ship, which has had another life as a Danish lighthouse ship, is operated by a seasonal crew. We meet with them to understand why they chose this life (in French).

A colorful sailing to Greenland

We're finally at sea ! The solid Donna Wood appears now very light as it sails away into the Bay of Skajalfandi. As the little Icelandic harbour of Húsavík fades away, the mountains of the fjord offer us a final horizon. We are all on the deck looking amazed at this adventure taking shape in these wooden masts and rebellious bow opening the waves of the ocean.

Scoresby Mission opens the way

Naturevolution poursuit son action d’exploration des mondes perdus cet été dans le Scoresby Sund, le plus grand système de fjords au monde, situé sur la côte orientale du Groenland. Le dernier volet du programme Lost Worlds a ainsi pour cadre un lieu exceptionnel, façonné par de gigantesques glaciers, parsemé d’icebergs et peuplé d’une faune rare, dont le mystérieux narval constitue le symbole. Les sols de ce territoire de glaces – la deuxième plus grande calotte polaire au monde – regorgent de richesses minières, rendues de plus en plus accessibles par le réchauffement climatique, et donc convoitées.
